My Liberation Day

Every year the people of Jersey join together to celebrate our liberation from occupied German forces on 9th May 1945.  This is just a snap shot of part of the day I was able to join in with.

Any excuse to dress up in army fatigues

What a lucky poodle!

Waiting for a ride in a back of a vintage truck

Preparing to film the service in Liberation Square

Something interesting behind me!
Members of the Victoria College Cadet Force re-enact the landing of the first British troops with the traditional handing out of oranges and sweets

Plenty of flag waving when the Union Flags were hoisted at the old Harbour Office, the Pomme D'Or hotel, and Fort Regent

Listening to the service with the Guard of Honour in the background

Thirsty work playing the trombone
The Lieutenant Governor Andrew Ridgeway prepares to take his last Liberation Day salute

Crouds of people took every vantage point to watch the procession

Plenty of fundraising and cuddles
Beautiful vintage car caught my eye
